What the PIN is, and why it is not protection
The PIN is a doorman, not a lock. It keeps out a stranger who guessed the board address, but it will not stop anyone the link was forwarded to along with the PIN. The real boundary is the secrecy of the link itself: it is short but random, and it never reaches search engines (event pages are closed to indexing).
There are two PINs: one for participants, one for hosts. A host gets the controls — marking stages, adjusting the plan, resetting progress — so tell the host PIN only to the people who actually run the event.
Why a personal link if there is a shared one
With the shared link a person picks themselves from the tiles and types the PIN. A personal link does that for them: open it and you are on the board in your own role, with no tiles and no PIN. It is the convenient thing to send a speaker in a direct message.
A personal link is access to that participation. Forward it and the role travels with it. Lose it and nothing breaks: the person enters through the shared link and picks themselves from the tiles.
The script and AI
The event programme is built on the Event screen: the script is free text at the top, and the stages with minutes and hosts are in the Board section. A stage opens and is edited in place; everything saves itself.
Under the script there are two buttons. Format script turns the text into blocks with headings and minutes; if you do not like the result, Restore previous brings back the old text for a few seconds and until your first edit. Fill blocks compares the script with the stages and shows what will change: new stages, minutes, hosts, order. Only what you tick is applied. Removing a stage is unticked by default.
Formatting, and building a programme from text without structure, use the account's shared limit of AI assistance actions; before spending one the service asks for confirmation — the question can be turned off and back on in the profile. Matching a script that already has headings does not use the limit. When the limit runs out the service will say so, rather than quietly returning worse results.
How to reset progress
On the board, in the footer, the moderator has “Reset progress”: it clears the start and finish marks of the stages, the actual timings and the comments. The programme, the people and the scripts stay. That is what you need after a rehearsal — run it through, reset, start for real.
The reset goes into the event log, so later it is clear who did it and when.
Why two devices show different numbers
They do not: the server counts the time, devices only display it. A second of difference between a phone and a laptop is network delay, not two separate timers. The “no connection — showing the last known state” badge in the footer means exactly that: the connection dropped, the numbers froze at the last known state and will catch up once it returns.
An event has a single time zone — the one chosen when it was created. The same zone is used in the report and in the calendar file.
The hall screen and “keep the screen on”
The hall screen (/e/…/hall?k=…) is a dark page with the stage title and a
large timer: that is what goes on the projector. It carries no controls — the
host marks stages from their own device.
The “Keep the screen on” button holds the display awake while the page is open. A person has to press it: the browser only enables that mode after a gesture, it never turns on by itself. The button disappears once pressed — that means it worked.
I am a participant, how do I see the event in my account
Open your personal link and press “that’s me — sign in” in the board header. After signing in the event appears in your account under “Where I take part”: the programme, your stages and the preparation checklist. You do not have to give the organiser your e-mail — the link makes the connection.
One participation is linked to one account. If the participation already belongs to another account, the service says so rather than silently rewriting the link.
How to delete the account
Profile → “Delete account”. Deletion is deferred: for a week the account can still be brought back — sign in and press “Cancel deletion”. After that the events, programmes, reports and the people directory disappear.
Events where you are only a participant are not affected: your account is deleted, not the organiser’s events.
